The Venerable Bede

An Anglo Saxon Born around 672 - 673 and died 26 May 735

Noted as an author and scholar, and his most famous work translated from Latin "The Ecclesiastical History of the English People" gained him the title:-

"The Father of English History"

His writings were cosiderably biased towards Christianity in that he describes the Pagan King of Mercia Penda in a very bad light, mainly because he was a Pagan and not a Christian.

He painted him as a ferocious animal in hacking the Limbs off his unfortunate victims after battle.

However this was a pagan belief that Penda was following, and the limbs of his opponent would be reassembed to make way for a new order of things to come.
